As Managing Director, Brand, of Edelman DABO, Jason spearheads the strategic campaign development and client servicing of the PR and Digital division. His belief in the changing media landscape and evolution of consumer engagement driven by technological change underpins his vision for the company’s brand communications.
Jason brings with him over 20 years’ experience in journalism, publishing and public relations in the Middle East and UK.
Jason moved to the UAE in 1999, where he ran several magazines before becoming Group Editor at ITP, overseeing Ahlan! Magazine and conceptualizing a number of brand extensions such as the ‘Hot 100’, which delivered unprecedented commercial success.
He was head-hunted to become the launch Editor of Emirates Today, where he oversaw a 60-strong team producing the daily newspaper. Following this he returned to the UK in 2006 to take the role of Publisher with Future PLC, one of the UK’s largest consumer magazine companies. He worked in both the Games and Sports divisions of the business, having full P&L responsibility for a multi-million pound magazine portfolio and playing a formative role in the digital development of the brands he oversaw.
He returned to Dubai in 2009 as Group Publisher for Motivate Publishing, running the entire magazine division, including titles such as Emirates in-flight portfolio, Gulf Business and Condé Nast Golf Digest.
Jason joined DABO & CO in 2010, initially as Commercial Director before assuming the role of Managing Director in 2011 where he has been instrumental in the agency growth and leading market reputation.
Jason has a BA degree in Politics, a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from the National Council of Training for Journalists and a Diploma in Publishing from the Periodical Publishers Association. Jason also currently sits on the board of the Middle East PR Association (MEPRA).
